FAQ

Data Usage

1. How can I download a dataset

To download data, you must be logged in. If you do not yet have an account, you will need to register first.

For datasets licensed under CC-BY, select one or more datasets by ticking the boxes left of the publication year, then click the download button in the lower right corner.

For SUFL datasets, you can only download one dataset at a time, and you must agree to the licence terms before the download is permitted.

More information is available under Download Data.

2. How do Scientific Use File datasets work?

These datasets are protected under the SUF-Licence. The contens are less anonymized than publicly available datasets, whick is why acces is more stricty regulated.

More about the different licence types can be found unter Upload Data

Costs

1. Does it cost anything?

No, the use of the RDC Motor Performance is free of charge.

Citation and DOI

1. How do I cite a dataset?

We suggest using the citation style of the American Psychological Association (APA). Example: Author/Institution. (Year). Title. [Data set]. DOI

2. DOI assignment

After the Upload you recieve a DOI Number through RADAR4KIT. They register the dataset on DataCite.

Journals regularly expect official DOI numbers for published datasets used in publications.

Data security

1. Is the Data secure?

Yes, all data is stored on servers operated by the Steinbuch Centre for Computing (SCC) at KIT. Further information can be found in the terms of use and the privacy policy.

2. Are all datasets reviewed?

All uploads are reviewed by the editorial board nd must be approved by two editores. An internal system check helps prevent errors in mapped data columns. With different errors, for example mistakes in the metadata or personal names in the data set, the editors will reject the upload and provide feedback. Afterwards you can reupload your dataset.

If you are unsure about the upload process, please refer to the Upload Data section. There you will also find the user manual.

You are also welcome to contact us by email. We are happy to support you with the upload.

3. SUFL?

Scientific Use Files are solely for scientific usage. The SUF Licence is used to make sure, that the data is handled appropriatly.

More information about the licence types can be found unser Upload data.
