New Balance – Developing a Healthy Work-Life Balance

Objective

The objective of New Balance is to identify influencing factors related to mobile and digitally supported work and study that impact health, work-life balance, and self-perceived productivity. Furthermore, to develop representative “personas” at KIT, the project focuses on groups for whom balancing professional/study responsibilities and private life is particularly challenging due to their current life circumstances or career phase. Vulnerable groups include, for example, researchers and students with caregiving responsibilities for children, first-semester students, and early-career researchers who, while heavily invested in shaping their future careers, often simultaneously face increased demands related to family formation.

Milestone 1 (10/2022-06/2024) – Online-Survey:

Analysis of resources and stressors considered relevant to the promotion of health, work-life balance, and self-perceived productivity, based on a representative sample of employees and students. Development of representative "personas".

Milestone 2 (07/2024-09/2025) – Ambulatory Assessment:

In-depth analysis of the interrelations among the factors identified in Phase 1, carried out as part of an ambulatory observational study.
