At the German Collegiate Sport Climbing Championships on June 6, 2026, in Dresden, the Karlsruhe University Sports Association team was well represented by a group of 15 participants. It had been several years since the last DHM sport climbing competition, which made the competition team all the more motivated to participate in a sport climbing event once again. This time, both men and women had to climb eight difficult routes each in the qualifying round, with grades ranging from 6+ to 10 UIAA, in “flash mode.” Conditions in the outdoor area were made more challenging by changeable weather, but each route remained dry, and all participants were able to push themselves to their limits. On the men’s side, two athletes advanced to the finals. In the finals, Matis Quiel achieved an outstanding 7th place in his very first sport climbing competition, followed by Robert Langendörfer in 8th place. The competition team is already looking forward to the next DHM!
On the way back, the team took a short detour to the Frankenjura to put their competition training to the test on real rock. There, they managed to redpoint routes rated 5–9 UIAA.
