The 2026 European Universities Games will take place in Salerno, Italy, from July 18 to August 1, 2026. More than 4,500 athletes from around 400 universities are expected to compete in 13 different sports at this, Europe’s largest student sports event.

A particular focus will be on 3x3 basketball, in which the Karlsruhe University Sports Association (WG) will be represented by a top-tier team. The German University Championships (DHM), held on July 3 and 4, 2026, in Mainz, served as the ideal dress rehearsal for the tournament in Salerno: There, the Karlsruhe team—consisting of two players from the IO College Wizards and two from the PSK Lions—secured the impressive title of university runner-up. With this exact same successful lineup, the team will now be competing for medals on the European stage at the end of July.
