At the London International Universities Fencing Tournament organized by University College London (UCL), Andreas Frölich of KIT has reached the third place in sabre in a field of 49 starters from Denmark, Germany, England, France, Ireland, Austria, and the Czech Republic. After a preliminary as well as a seeded round with 11 victories and only one defeat, the physics doctoral student could enter the direct elimination in 4th place and defend this place until the semifinals. There he had to admit defeat to Samuel Gibbs from the English University of Reading with 11:15 after a long balanced fight. The latter lost in the final to Valerian Langton from UCL. The second third place went to the Czech national fencer Jan Hoschna.
