  • On May 29, Philipp Ippen, Luis Schaich and Maximilian Köhler competed for KIT at the German University Championships. The main aim was to achieve fast times and qualifying standards for this summer's FISU World Games in Germany.

Maximilian Köhler was the first to compete in the 400m hurdles. In a strong run, the industrial engineer was able to prevail against his opponents and became German university champion with a new personal best of 50.49s. This was also the qualifying standard for the upcoming U23 European Championships and the FISU World Games.

A short time later, Philipp Ippen competed in the 100m. Despite a strong headwind, he ran a good 11.06s in the preliminary heat and qualified for the B final. He was able to confirm his good form again in the final and achieved a strong 12th place overall. In the afternoon, the master's student of industrial engineering took to the starting line again in the 200m, where he finished 21st in 22.90s.

At lunchtime, Luis Schaich ran the 1500m. In a mainly tactical race, he was able to run with the leading group until the end and was then rewarded with 4th place in 3:57.60 thanks to a strong final sprint. After this performance, the medical technology student was satisfied with his competition.
