Strong team, strong atmosphere - WG Karlsruhe impresses at DHM Schwimmen 2025 in Düsseldorf

  • On June 14 and 15, the German University Swimming Championships took place in the Rheinbad Düsseldorf. In midsummer temperatures and strong competition, a total of 62 universities and colleges took part. The Karlsruhe competition team was represented by 35 swimmers, 31 of whom came from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).


    Despite the higher level of performance compared to previous years, the swimming team from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) was able to impress with final placings and strong relay performances. In the overall ranking, Karlsruhe took a good 9th place among the university teams.


    Ludwig Freutsmiedl's performance deserves special mention, as he secured 3rd place in the 50m backstroke (0:27.29) in a top-class field and only just missed the podium in the 100m backstroke (4th place in 1:00.72). He also achieved a strong result in the 200m backstroke with 7th place (2:19.11).

    Adrian Trumpa also put in a strong performance: He took 6th place in the 50m backstroke final (0:28.13), and also finished seventh in the 100m backstroke (1:03.11) and 200m medley (2:26.47). Luca Vossler swam to a convincing 6th place in the 50 m breaststroke final (0:31.10) and came 7th in the 100 m breaststroke (1:15.38).


    Further top 10 placings:

    Carl Bittendorf: 7th over 200m breaststroke (2:46.22), 8th over 100m breaststroke (1:15.62)

    Luis Bender: 5th in the 200m butterfly (2:29.96)


    The relay teams also delivered strong results:

    4x100m medley male - 4th place

    6x50m breaststroke mixed - 5th place

    4x100m freestyle male - 6th place

    8x50m medley mixed - 7th place


    In addition to the sporting successes, the Karlsruhe team also impressed with their team spirit and vociferous support at the edge of the pool. The atmosphere was consistently positive and the team spirit within the team made the weekend a special experience. The WG Karlsruhe swimming team looks back on the DHM 2025 with satisfaction - and looks forward to the challenges ahead.
