Fourteen athletes competed for WG Karlsruhe at the German University Championships (DHM) 2025 in Karlsruhe. This made us the university with the highest number of entries to take part in this year's DHM, which we organized. The sporting level was very high - the DHM was even the largest DHM ever organized in taekwondo!
Poomsae athletes also competed for KIT for the first time. In the women's category A Recognized Poomsae, Fei-Hsi Ko took 5th place after a strong preliminary round. Arelia McKern, Lejla Bratic and Monika Wydra competed in category B.
Firas Skrandani competed in the men's category -68 kg, category A. Firas had to compete directly against a national squad athlete in the preliminary round, but still put in a strong performance, which unfortunately wasn't enough to reach the semi-finals in the end.
Hannah Haake competed in the women's -67 kg category A. After a strong and exciting quarter-final, she was able to decide the fight with a head kick at the last second. She finished in 3rd place.
David Li competed in the men's -68 kg category B and ultimately secured 2nd place after three exciting fights.
Suchakri Kucklick, Adrian Geibel, Raphael Dienert and Simon Seibel competed in the men's -80 kg B category. Adrian Geibel achieved 5th place, Simon Seibel and Suchakri each took 3rd place and Raphael Dienert secured 2nd place.
In the women's category -57 kg, category B, Ruth Ullrich unfortunately narrowly lost the semi-final and finished in 3rd place.Anton Kadelbach and Ina Aidam were also registered, but unfortunately withdrew at short notice due to injury.
Jessica Wolf and Kaize Zhou were there as KIT internal coaches. Many thanks also go to Alexander Barz from the Deggendorf Institute of Technology for coaching some of our athletes.
