  • From August 21 to 26, 2025, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) was represented with the sports taekwondo and judo at the EUSA Championships Combat Sports in Warsaw. The event kicked off on Friday with the opening ceremony, during which the first contacts were made with other teams.

The judo competitions began on Saturday. Verena Buchloh competed in the -57kg weight class. She made a confident start to the tournament with a quick victory against Austria. She then fought against France. In the pool final, she was beaten by the eventual runner-up from Poland and was also unable to win against Romania in the consolation round. She therefore finished in 9th place.

The competitions for the taekwondo team started on Sunday. Jessica Wolf competed in the -57 kg weight class, won her first fight against Finland, but was beaten by France in the quarter-finals and finished in 5th place. Team-mate Kaize Zhou was unfortunately unable to compete at short notice due to injury.

All in all, it was an exciting five days in Warsaw with many impressions and a great exchange with athletes from all over Europe.
