Runners from Karlsruhe at the 2026 DHM Orienteering Championships in Paderborn

  • On May 14 and 15, eight runners from the Karlsruhe University Sports Association traveled to Paderborn for the German Collegiate Orienteering Championships. The course was organized in collaboration with TuS Lübbecke and featured two days of exciting competitions as well as a successful supporting program.

The sprint relay kicked things off on Thursday. The race was run in teams of two, with each runner first completing a longer leg and then a shorter lap. The race was particularly successful for Lucas Imbsweiler and Kolya Sass, who secured second place. Right behind them, another Karlsruhe relay team—featuring Rasmus Ellwanger and Péter Nagy—finished in third place. On Friday, the individual competition took place in the wooded area on the outskirts of Paderborn. The course ran for about 8 km as the crow flies through varied terrain and made for exciting races across the entire field of participants. The runners from Karlsruhe also delivered strong performances. In addition to the competitions, the excellent organization was particularly memorable. The joint pasta party in the evening also provided a wonderful opportunity to wrap up the day of competition together.

Many thanks to the University of Paderborn, TuS Lübbecke, and all the volunteers for successfully hosting the 2026 DHM Orienteering Championships!
