Ice-free. Sun. Row!

Rowers are active on the water again.

Unfortunately, the past weeks could not be rowed due to ice in the Rhine harbor.

On March 03, boats, sculls and oars were unpacked again and rowed a few kilometers in the Rhine harbor in bright sunshine. The racing team was among others in the flagship, the eight. The amateur sports group was able to test the church boat, which the club restored itself, together with active members of the Karlsruhe rowing club Wiking. The church boat is a form of boat that originated in Finland and offers space for 14 rowers and a helmsman. As these places were filled quickly, there was also a triple of the KIT on the water.

Here an impression from the church boat while rowing in the harbor (the KIT rowers are hiding in the bow)

The racing team and the boat "Flotter Dreier" lived up to their names and were so fast on the water that unfortunately no usable rowing photo was taken. On the other hand, it was possible to record that we always take good care of our boat material:

With this wonderful weather, we are already looking forward to rowing in the summer semester. We have planned numerous rowing dates and are going to "work" with an enlarged team of instructors. On our homepage http://sport.kit.edu/rudern you can already find the course dates for the summer semester. For newcomers to rowing, there will of course again be beginner courses at the beginning of the semester.
