KIT Winter Sportsmen Convince at DHM Alpine Skiing

From 14.01. to 15.01.2016 the DHM of the disciplines Slalom and Giant Slalom, organized by the University of Konstanz, took place in the Austrian ski resort Diedamskopf, after a six-year break.
adh-ski

On 14.01., the slalom was on the agenda, where KIT started with five participants (Anna Köstel, Marius Köppel, Maximilian Kerndörfer, Maximilian Kristen and Andrej Bykov) at the DHM and with a former chairman (Michael Moczorodynski) at the Alumni Cup.
After extensive course inspection, the first run took place punctually at 11:00 am. However, only four athletes (Marius Köppel, Maximilian Kerndörfer, Maximilian Kristen and Michael Moczorodynski) managed to finish the first run. Since Michael Moczorodynski unfortunately lost his ski at the 5th gate and had to run back again, he was far behind in terms of time. But the sporting will counts!

In the second run, Marius Köppel could not finish the run cleanly, which is why only three participants were able to successfully complete all two runs. In the second run, Michael Moczorodynski's sporting ambition paid off. He was able to put in such a good run that he was able to make up for the lost time from the first race and finished in a good 5th place with an overall time of 2.53.13 minutes. Maximilian Kerndörfer and Maximilian Kristen finished 17th and 21st with their times (of 2.12.91 and 2.37.73). Anna Köstel finished 13th due to missing the gate and Marius Köppel and Andrej Bykov finished 21st.

Giant slalom is cancelled

On 15.01. the giant slalom would have been. KIT started with six participants (Anna Köstel, Marius Köppel, Maximilian Kerndörfer, Maximilian Kristen, Justus Schmits and Andrej Bykov) at the DHM and with one former chairman (Michael Moczorodynski) at the Alumni Cup. However, after a long wait for better weather and visibility, the run was cancelled. Basically a right decision, because it was not even possible to see the third gate from the start. However, a bit frustrating for the participants, as they had been preparing for the race. A small consolation was the fact that there was almost 50 cm of fresh snow overnight. Thus, the rest of the day could be spent in fresh powder snow.

For the first participation in such a race after six years, one can be quite satisfied with the performance and hope for next year!
