While the Unifest started at the KIT, 8 brave Storm lacrosse players traveled to Bayreuth for the adh-Open. Together with 4 players from Konstanz, including Kian, a former Storm member, the KonRuhe team was founded. After wallballs (or truckballs) in a traffic jam and a road trip by the second car, the tents were pitched on the campus of the University of Bayreuth and pinnies specially designed for the tournament with the cozy logo of SG KonRuhe were distributed.

On Saturday morning, they unfortunately suffered a narrow defeat against SG Dortmund/Hohenheim/Stuttgart/Tübingen by 6:5. On the other hand, the KonRuhe team, now as a well-oiled team, were unprecedentedly comfortable in the following games and beat SG Darmstadt/Mainz 11:1, with Markus celebrating his first goal in a game. They made it through to the quarter-finals with a second 11:1 win against SG Kaiserslautern/Munich B, in which Jakob M. and Nico again made life difficult for the opposing goalie, while Tim took over as goalkeeper.

The quarter-final against SG Erlangen/Freiburg/Würzburg was concluded with a commanding 18:3 and was then duly celebrated at the Players Party. On Sunday morning, after a very early bench shift, the team earned their place in the final with an impressive 17:10.

The final was played - exceptionally in blue - against the hosts from the University of Bayreuth. After a long and tough final, KonRuhe unfortunately had to concede defeat with 7:11. After the award ceremony, where the KonRuhe players were able to collect their silver medals, everyone headed home again.

Special thanks go to Tim for organizing, Fred, who was a wall in goal in five games, Markus for organizing team pinnies and the organizers of the adh.

    Report ladies

The adh-Open 2025 took place in sunny Bayreuth from June 11 - 13. University teams from all over Germany traveled to Bayreuth for a weekend full of lacrosse. So did the women's team from KIT Karlsruhe. After a somewhat bumpy journey including a full roadblock and an initial adjustment on the highway, the tents are quickly set up on arrival and the atmosphere is great. So the weekend can begin.

Saturday began with a hard-fought but ultimately successful opening game against SG Bayreuth/Würzburg. In the end, the Karlsruhe team came out on top by the narrow margin of 9:8. They were able to take the experience from this game into the following matches.

They then made a real statement in the second game: With a commanding 10:1 victory against the Braunschweig/Dresden/Gießen/Marburg playing group, the Karlsruhe players showed their full potential.

The third game of the day against Freiburg was lost 7:13, but the team put in a cohesive performance.

In the last match of the day, the strength of both teams was clearly waning, but Karlsruhe still managed to keep the upper hand against Darmstadt/Mainz and win the match 5:1.

In the spirit of the adh-Open, the team spirit was strengthened on Saturday evening in a relaxed atmosphere, both within the team and between the teams/universities.

On the second day of the tournament, all remaining energy was mobilized. In the semi-final, the Karlsruhe players were narrowly defeated 3:5 by the Bochum/Bremen/Duisburg-Essen/Folkwang University of the Arts/Wuppertal team, despite their great efforts.

The last match for third place against SG Braunschweig/Dresden/Gießen/Marburg was once again really exciting. The ladies from Karlsruhe fought to the end, but were narrowly beaten 6:7.

With an overall performance that combined fighting spirit, playing ability and team cohesion, the Karlsruhe ladies took a well-deserved 4th place at the adh-Open 2025. Proud and satisfied, the tents were taken down and a great weekend with lots of new experiences and friendships came to an end. A big thank you to Bayreuth for the successful organization of the tournament!
