  • On July 4, 2026, the ADH-open Rugby tournament took place in Karlsruhe from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., providing both players and spectators with an exciting day of rugby. A total of 19 games were played on two fields. Six men’s teams and four women’s teams from a total of six cities participated in the competition, vying for the tournament title in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

    The Women’s Competition
In the women’s division, teams from Aachen, Mainz, Tübingen, and Freiburg competed. After Aachen had narrowly finished in second place at the previous ADH Open, the team was in top form this year and confidently secured the tournament title. Tübingen took second place, followed by Mainz in third and Freiburg in fourth.

    The Men’s Competition
In the men’s competition, the Karlsruhe University Sports Association, Aachen, Frankfurt, Tübingen, and Freiburg took the field, with Karlsruhe fielding two teams. Aachen and Karlsruhe had already delivered a thrilling final at the last tournament, which Karlsruhe won in 2023. This year, Karlsruhe 1 and Aachen faced off once again in the final. This time, however, Aachen prevailed and secured the tournament victory. Karlsruhe 1 took 2nd place, Freiburg 3rd, Karlsruhe 2 4th, Frankfurt 5th, and Tübingen 6th.

    Awards
In addition to the placements in the main categories, special awards were also presented: Both the women’s and men’s teams from Freiburg won the award for the fairest team. The referees named Tahina Le Magnan from Aachen as the best female player, and Paul Beck from Karlsruhe as the best male player.

    The Third Half
After a successful day of competition, all teams gathered for the traditional “third half.” The day came to a close with everyone enjoying a meal together, celebrating, and watching rugby in a festive atmosphere.

    Thanks to the Supporters
Special thanks go to the Karlsruhe sports club Rintheim-Waldstadt e.V., which made its facilities available for hosting the tournament. In addition, the tournament was supported by Rugby Deutschland and the Baden-Württemberg Rugby Association, both through the provision of equipment such as balls and by helping to recruit referees. As a result, a total of eight experienced referees and a dedicated match-day organization team were secured, ensuring that everything ran smoothly.

    Conclusion
As in 2023, Karlsruhe once again hosted a successful ADH-open Rugby tournament. The tournament strengthened the German rugby community and brought together numerous clubs, which had a great time competing in a fair and intense competition.
