The German University Championships 2025 in golf were held this year on July 5 and 6 at the Golf Club Bad Saarow - as in 2022, but this time on the challenging Nick Faldo course. A total of twelve players competed for KIT in individual and team competitions: Trutz, Luzie, Lars and Jasper (Team Karlsruhe I), Eckart, Liam, Ann-Kathrin and Philippos (Team Karlsruhe II) as well as Tom, Lukas, Chiara and Moritz (Team Karlsruhe III).
The journey from Karlsruhe to Bad Saarow took place on Thursday, which was planned entirely as a travel day. On Friday, we took the opportunity for an extensive practice round to get to know the course and prepare ourselves optimally. Afterwards, the accreditation of the participants and the official welcome took place in the clubhouse.
The tournament itself was held on Saturday and Sunday. Two rounds of single counting play were played over 18 holes each on the Nick Faldo course - one of the most challenging golf courses in Germany. Despite perfect weather conditions, the course showed its merciless side and did not forgive any mistakes, which was also reflected in the results.
Nevertheless, our team achieved one of the best results in the last five years: Lars secured a place in the top 5 of the individual rankings, and Team Karlsruhe I achieved a respectable 4th place - just two strokes off the podium and four strokes off second place. We leave satisfied, but with a clear hunger for more.
