The DHM Rowing 2025 was the highlight of the season for the KIT University Sports rowing team this year. This year's DHM was held in Krefeld on Lake Elfrath. The KIT university team competed in the Challenge as well as in the men's, women's and mixed races. You are allowed to start in the Challenge category if you have less than two years of rowing and regatta experience. Constantin Pietrek achieved an excellent third place in the single scull in a strong field of participants.
In the men's field this year, a prospective team competed, as well as our more experienced rowers who already have a few seasons under their belts. The men's eight narrowly missed out on the podium with a fifth place, as did the men's four without with a fourth place. Our prospective team was able to gain important racing experience in the second four without, the double four and the double two.
Helena Brenke competed in the women's single scull and secured the gold medal in a close race with a photo finish and thus an EUC nomination for next year in Zagreb. Our last race of the DHM was the mixed double four with Karl Draper, Rune Grofer, Helena Brenke and Esther Linner. After a third place in the preliminary heat, the four made it exciting in the final and were able to secure the gold medal and an EUC nomination with a spirited final spurt.
A big thank you goes to the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences and the Crefelder Ruder-Club for the successful organization. On the way home, the weekend was traditionally rounded off with a visit to Burger King.
